Rebel with a Cause: The Global Legacy of Fr. Chaminade

Considered a rebel during the French Revolution, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade risked life imprisonment and even death to stay in France and serve the needs of the people. Today, the legacy and spirit of Chaminade live on through the selfless efforts of Marianists, professed and lay, as well as other groups and individuals whose work reflects the Marianist charism. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of Fr. Chaminade's birth, it is appropriate that we examine these efforts, understand the problems and challenges confronting different communities around the world, and work towards greater justice and peace for the marginalized in society.
